Topeka, KS – Senator Pat Roberts today announced that Candy Merrill, of Overland Park, and Dave Murfin, of Wichita, will serve as his statewide campaign co-chairs, bringing strategic planning, business acumen and fundraising skills to the Roberts for Senate team.?

Merrill is a principal with Merrill Companies, directing all marketing and many leasing activities of the Overland Park commercial development firm. She is a licensed real estate agent, wife and mother. Murfin is president of Murfin Drilling Company, Inc in Wichita. He is also chairman and CEO of Murfin, Inc., which has many diverse business operations. He is a husband, father and grandfather.

“I am honored to have Candy and Dave join me in this campaign,” Roberts said. “I have asked their advice and counsel for many years as part of my ‘kitchen cabinet’ so it was natural to ask them to join my team.”?

Roberts added, “As successful business leaders in their fields, they understand what it takes to add jobs to our economy and the reality of too much big government regulation and red tape on our businesses. As parents, they also share my concerns about tackling the debt, deficit and entitlements so that we don’t bankrupt our children’s futures.”? ?

“I admire the leadership that Pat Roberts brings to Washington on our state’s behalf,” Merrill said. “He isn’t afraid of a fight and doesn’t back down from his principles. He is effective at seeking solutions that will make a difference in our lives. There are not many statesmen like Pat in Congress.”? ?

Murfin said, “Pat is a steadfast conservative voice, fighting to cut spending and taxes at time when liberals in Washington want to talk about how to tax and spend more. Whether he’s talking with farmers and ranchers, energy producers, community bankers or Kansas families, Pat understands our concerns and shares a positive vision for the future.”? ?

Merrill and Murfin will co-chair the statewide campaign, joined by an honorary statewide campaign committee of Governor Sam Brownback, Senator Jerry Moran, Congressman Tim Huelskamp, Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins, Congressman Kevin Yoder, Congressman Mike Pompeo, Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer, Secretary of State Kris Kobach, Attorney General Derek Schmidt and State Treasurer Ron Estes. ?

Pat Roberts, from Dodge City, is the senior U.S. Senator. He’s a leading voice for smaller government. He fights for policies that foster job growth so that Kansans have greater economic opportunities at home and believes Kansas families should be able to keep more of the money they earn. As a Marine, he puts America’s security and the well-being of our service personnel at the forefront. He’s dedicated to repealing and replacing Obamacare because of the damage it will do to the doctor-patient relationship, the increased tax burden on businesses and the rising costs on families. Pat Roberts is making a difference in Washington.
