Pat Roberts Congratulates President-Elect Trump

Rural Voters Have Spoken

WASHINGTON, DC – Pat Roberts, Republican Senator from Kansas, today released the following statement on the results of the 2016 elections:

“I congratulate President-Elect Donald Trump on his hard fought and historic campaign.

“Some are calling his win the greatest upset in political history, but in truth, it accurately reflects how upset many, many Americans have been.

“Donald Trump was able to tap into the concerns of rural and heartland voters. Their voice has been heard. Rural Americans have come to me again and again frustrated with the direction of our nation and fearful of their future.

“Conservative, patriotic and rural Americans voting in this election made it clear it is a time for a new voice in the White House, a new leader that listens to them. They have found that in Donald Trump. He has started a movement.

“I am proud to continue to be a champion of rural Americans and will continue to put our needs first. I look forward to working with the Trump Administration to ensure the days of our government forcing a partisan agenda upon our daily lives by executive order are finally over.

“I congratulate Jerry Moran, Lynn Jenkins, Mike Pompeo and Kevin Yoder. We have a strong delegation fighting for our state and our conservative values in Washington. I welcome Big First Congressman-Elect Roger Marshall and am proud to serve with him.

“I have long said our country is balkanized. Now is the time to come together so that the concerns and hopes of all Americans can be realized. It is time to get to work.”

Pat Roberts endorsed Donald Trump for President and spoke at the 2016 Republican National Convention. He was a key member of the Agricultural and Rural Advisory Committee for the Donald J. Trump Campaign for President.
